Oman win ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Division 2 Qualifier Final as Nitish Nadendla wins Player of the Tournament
They asserted their dominance throughout the game with Player of the Tournament Nitish Nadendla hitting a brilliant 50 from 34 balls to guide them to 249/5. Saumya Sampat claimed the Player of the Match award for taking three wickets and hitting 48 in the winning cause.
Oman won the toss and elected to bat, but their opening bowler Gaurav Dinesh was removed by Daniel Mapp in the 5th over. Rishan Shah and Shayan Puri put pressure on Oman's scoring, bringing them to 32/1 after the first Powerplay. Oman reached the team 50 in the 17th over, with spinners Puri and Harry Hodgson bowling well.
Oman's partnership with left-arm spinner Puri helped them reach the 100 in the 28th over. Leg-spinner Arya Panjwani made the breakthrough, trapping Saumya for 48. Hong Kong, China, however, lost their first wicket in the third over, losing captain Shiv Mathur to a catch. Arya Panjwani and Aarez Dar took the total to 44, while Matthew Clayton and Daniel Mapp built a partnership to take Hong Kong, China beyond 100. Rohan Ramachandran took the ninth wicket, and Oman won the final comfortably by 100 runs.
