The result marked Bangladesh’s first whitewash since their 3–0 loss to Pakistan earlier this year, ending a run of four consecutive bilateral series victories. Speaking after the match, Litton said his team were given a “tough time” across all departments.
“I had also said before the series that I wanted a tough time from here. I think they have given us a tough time from everywhere. They bowled very well. Our batting wasn’t that good either. But obviously, you don’t want a bad series every time,” Litton said after the match.
The skipper admitted that his side struggled to handle pressure and stressed the importance of maintaining positivity. “There’s only one way to come back — by keeping spirits high and not worrying too much. If you worry, negative thoughts come more easily. We were under pressure in all three games and couldn’t overcome it. That’s a key concern,” he added.
Fatigue and recovery ahead of the Ireland series
Litton also pointed out that the team’s packed schedule might have affected performances, suggesting that fatigue played a role. He believes the players will recover well during the short break before their next assignment against Ireland.
“Sometimes you try hard, but things don’t go your way. This series might be one of those. The players have been playing for a long time. After this T20 series, they’ll get at least ten days of rest before the Ireland series. I’m confident they’ll restart fresh and come back stronger,” he said.
Backing the current players amid batting struggles
Despite ongoing issues with batting consistency, Litton dismissed the idea of making wholesale team changes. He emphasized faith in the current group of players, stating that poor form in a few games doesn’t make anyone a bad player.
“The players in this team are all proven. Sometimes a few matches go wrong, but that doesn’t mean someone is a bad player. They know what to improve and will work with the batting coach to fix those areas,” Litton explained.
He also cautioned against frequent changes to the squad. “If you change players every day, results will remain the same. It’s better to back experienced players — that’s how you get better outcomes,” he added.
Injury updates: Nurul Hasan and Shoriful Islam
Meanwhile, Nurul Hasan was taken to hospital after suffering an ankle injury during the final T20I in Chattogram. Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam also experienced hamstring discomfort and will be monitored closely ahead of the Ireland series.
